Best Couples Resort in Jamaica for All Budgets

No matter your budget, there’s a couples resort in Jamaica waiting for you. Many visitors arrive in shock at the beauty of this gorgeous island—stunning beaches, bold colors, passionate rhythms, and swaying palm trees give this island a personality unlike any other in the Caribbean. In short, Jamaica is the perfect escape for couples looking to celebrate a special occasion, a honeymoon, or simply time to reconnect with their partners.

Couples dreaming of a trip to Jamaica most likely envision warm-weather beaches, creative all-inclusive dining opportunities, comfortable and in many cases luxurious accommodations, first-class service, exciting watersports, and romantic excursions. Rest assured, there’s a charming place that will meet your desires on the list below, no matter how big or small your budget.

Best Couples Resort in Jamaica for All Budgets

The list below is sorted from the lowest price to the highest—making it easy to find accommodation that fits your budget. Also, because these are the best couple’s resorts in Jamaica, you can’t really choose the wrong one, they’re all great options.

The Famous “Seven Mile Beach” of Negril Jamaica.

One important detail to consider before completing a reservation is knowing where the couple’s resort is located in relation to the nearest international airport. For instance, if you’re a bit short on time or don’t feel like taking a connecting domestic flight in Jamaica, or don’t prefer a long transfer from the airport then the location of the resort is vital. In other words, if the transfer or additional flight adds too much time to your itinerary then perhaps it’s a better idea to reserve a couples resort in Jamaica that is closer to an international airport.

Getting to the Couples Resort

Every couples resort in Jamaica listed below is either on the northern or western section of the island. As a result, the nearest international airports will be Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay or Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ) in Ocho Rios. If the resort is not near these two airports then you may have to take a long transfer from the airport or connect to a domestic airport.

💰 Budget Tip: Check out WayAway—a new flight aggregator platform that provides travelers with the best rates on airline tickets. Users can also purchase the WayAway Plus membership plan, which gives cashback on flights, accommodation, car rentals, tours, and more. We saved a ton of money using WayAway!

Side Note: If you’re going to go on one excursion while in Jamaica, make sure it’s the Rastasafari Experience from Negril. Or, if you’re staying near Ocho Rios take the Dunn’s River Falls & Blue Hole Combo Tour.

Montego Bay (pictured above) and Negril are two of the most popular destinations for couples resorts in Jamaica.

As a courtesy, we’ve gone ahead and listed the commute time from the international airport in the details below. On the plus side, most of the journey takes place along a lovely seaside road and allows visitors to become acquainted with Jamaica.

Budget Tip: If you’re short on time or don’t feel like wasting time sitting in an airport, make sure to book a non-stop flight from the States. Also, we use Priceline to compare flight options. Check the “Bundle + Save” option to book the flight and hotel together to save money.

Catcha Falling Star – Best Budget Resort

Overlooking the Caribbean Sea and set high on the cliffs of Negril, Catcha Falling Star is the best affordable couples resort in Jamaica. With rates starting at less than $100 per night, this whimsical resort offers guest cliff-side cottages, stunning views, epic swimming holes, cliff jumping, and a restaurant.

Take in the views on the seaside terraces at Catcha Falling Star.

Of course, at this price, the menu is à la carte but the prices aren’t much different than a diner in the States and there’s a small grocery store nearby—which means you’ll probably save a ton of money when compared to the more expensive all-inclusive options on the island. Also, to add some culinary assortment, there are several close-by restaurants including the famous Rick’s Cafe.

Finally, please note that the minimum age for guests is 13.

Ocean Cliff Hotel Negril

Similar to Catcha Falling Star but perhaps a bit more expensive, and only about two miles away, Ocean Cliff Hotel Negril is a great option for those travelers looking to save a bit of money by not booking an all-inclusive hotel. Dining à la carte at various nearby restaurants can be just as exciting (or more) as at an all-inclusive, and considerably cheaper.

This luxury beachfront hotel features charming cottages, a saltwater pool, Blue Mahoe a farm-to-table restaurant, and a spa. Also, Ocean Cliff provides their guests with a free phone upon arrival—this makes it easy to contact the front desk from anywhere on the island. Finally, while children are allowed, it’s unlikely that any guest will bring them here. This is because the property caters to an adult crowd and isn’t marketed to be family-friendly.

Budget Tip: Next door to Ocean Cliff is Connie’s Country & Western Bar. Tourists come from all over the island, many times during a Negril Cliffs pub crawl, for their tasty fried chicken and macaroni and cheese.

All-Inclusive Couples Resorts in Jamaica

The best all-inclusive couples resorts in Jamaica start at a little over $500 per night per couple (PNPC) and exceed $1,500 PNPC. Every option from here down is adults-only, expensive, and exceptional—you really can’t go wrong so if something catches your eye then most likely that’s the ideal all-inclusive for you. We’ll go ahead and break down each couple’s resort in Jamaica and provide the highlights of each resort starting with Couples Negril.

The resorts below are sorted from least expensive to most expensive.

Couples Negril

Recognized as Couples Resorts’ most intimate resort, Couples Negril is located on Bloody Bay, the name reflects its history as a whaling port during the 19th century. Nevertheless, this stunning bay is one of Jamaica’s most iconic with its crystal-clear calm water. As a result, it’s the ideal beach getaway for swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and diving—luckily, Couples Negril offers unlimited diving!

Along with unlimited diving, Couples Negril also offers unlimited watersports, tennis, and golf. Other highlights include farm-to-table dining opportunities, modern furnishings, a treehouse spa, and a small semi-private beach area designated for “au naturel” sunbathing that is located just off the main beach and is easily avoidable if need be.

Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica

As one of the closest resorts to the airport, visitors are sure to kick off their vacation quickly on Montego Bay. Guests are treated to spacious, modern rooms, two swim-up bars, tons of entertainment options, and six restaurants including Japanese, fusion, Italian, and a steakhouse.

Guests of the Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica can also visit the neighboring Hotel Riu Montego Bay free of charge. Finally, two negatives to this location are the relatively small beach and airport noise.

Couples Swept Away

Up to this point on the list, if we had the money, Couples Swept Away would be our choice as the best couples resort in Jamaica. Located on the breathtakingly stunning Long Bay Beach, the bungalow-style suites feel well-appointed and make the grounds feel spacious and open—it’s the exact opposite of the typical stuffy all-inclusive resort.

With the largest fitness complex on the island, exercise enthusiasts will find this as the ideal all-inclusive. It comes with all of the amenities of Couples Negril, except the beach is wider and the property is larger. Additionally, it’s closer to lively local attractions such as Margaritaville, beach bars featuring live reggae, and other fun beach pitstops.

Excellence Oyster Bay

Located on its own private peninsula, the extravagant Excellence Oyster Bay features two miles of remote sandy beaches, Victorian-style oversized suites, and beach house suites with plunge pools. Based on the above resorts, Excellence probably has the nicest accommodations and pools but the beach surrounding the resort is not as nice as Long Bay Beach in Negril. Also, Excellence Oyster Bay kicks off a higher pricepoint range for resorts, with standard room rates of around $600 per night.

Feeling more sophisticated than some of the less expensive all-inclusive resorts, Excellence features unique bars and lounges including the rooftop X-Lounge. This little hideaway is the perfect place to take in a sunset over the Caribbean Sea. Personally, we would only recommend selecting Excellence Oyster Bay over Couples Swept Away based on the much shorter distance from the airport or if you prefer pools over beaches.

While you’re in this neck of the woods be sure to visit the Chukka Eco-Adventure Outpost to go bamboo Rafting, zipping, tubing, and rum tasting.

Iberostar Grand Rose Hall

Of the three contiguous Iberostar Resorts, the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall is the most prestigious. Moreover, it’s the only adults-only option and flaunts it with marble staircases, stylish interiors, and butler service. In fact, everything here is more opulent, including the amenities, comfort level, and service.

Highlights include swim-up suites and 24-hour room service. Also, guests have the option of dining at the two other adjacent Iberostar properties. However, reservations are mandatory for all restaurants except the buffets.

Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall

Hyatt Ziva Rose Hal is the neighboring property to Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall, but try not to get them confused. While both are upscale all-inclusive resorts, Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is the one and only accommodation that is adult-only.

With a whopping 10 restaurants and six bars, a getaway to Zilara may be the Jamaican vacation of your dreams. Of course, guests have access to the seven restaurants and six bars at Ziva, for a total of 17 restaurants—better book some extra days if you want to hit them all up. Also, reservations at restaurants are not required, which is a super nice perk!

In terms of the beach at Zilara, it’s a bit more wild and rugged with fewer vendors and attractions when compared to Long Bay or Bloody Bay beaches. Furthermore, long strolls on the beach may be a little more challenging because the shoreline is more jagged, not a straight line. Depending on your aspirations, this may be positive or negative.

Finally, a huge perk to staying here is that it’s only about 10 minutes from the airport, making it ultra-convenient.

Budget Tip: If airfare eats up too much of your budget, try exploring one of these seven lovely white sand beach resorts in the USA.

Sandals Resorts

Sandals are consistently ranked as one of the most sought-after all-inclusive resorts in the world. Moreover, they do such a great job advertising and marketing that many times Sandals are the first all-inclusive resort that many people stay at and return to consistently.

We’ve all seen Sandals’ commercials and as a result, probably have a pretty good idea of what to expect. Therefore, only the highlights of each Jamaican Sandals resort are listed below.

Have dinner right on the beach at Sandals Negril!

Guests visiting a Sandals Resort are treated to an all-inclusive menu that consists of up to 16 restaurants, 11 bars, a fully-stocked bar in the room, unlimited scuba diving, water sports, golfing, live entertainment, and butler service.

There are seven Sandals Resorts in Jamaica. Below, they are sorted from least to most expensive for the standard accommodation. Expect to pay about $600+ per night per couple (PNPC) for Ochi and $1,000+ PNPC at Montego Bay.

  1. Ochi – Ocho Rios
  2. South Coast – Whitehouse
  3. Negril
  4. Royal Caribbean – Montego Bay
  5. Royal Plantation – Ocho Rios
  6. Dunn’s River – Ocho Rios
  7. Montego Bay

All of the resorts listed above provide endless opportunities for fun in the sun, elegant dining, and a plethora of amenities. Below are the brief highlights for each of the resorts which should help during the selection process.

1. Sandals Ochi

Sandals Ochi in Ocho Rios is the most affordable option, the largest resort, and the best for active travelers and golfers. Guests enjoy the massive lively pool but the small beach leaves a bit to be desired. Finally, there are 16 restaurants and 11 bars.

2. Sandals South Coast

Sandals South Coast in Whitehouse is located off the typical tourist beaten path and has the best assortment of suites, including overwater bungalows. Also, the swim-up Rondoval suites are affixed to a massive 17,000-square-foot lazy river pool. Finally, there are nine restaurants and seven bars.

3. Sandals Negril

Taking up a significant piece of property on the coveted Long Bay Beach, Sandals Negril is adorned with the largest beach area of all of the Sandals resorts. Meaning, guestrooms are only steps away from the beach. Also, some motorboat activities are included in the package. Finally, there are seven restaurants and five bars.

4. Sandals Royal Caribbean

Located just 10 minutes from the airport, Sandals Royal Caribbean is unique because of its private island which features overwater bungalows, a pool, and a restaurant. While the resort area is on the smaller side, guests have the option to visit Sandals Montego Bay for additional dining and entertainment options. Finally, there are nine restaurants and five bars.

5. Sandals Royal Plantation

Located next to Sandals Ochi, the Sandals Royal Plantation is the more sophisticated sister property. While Ochi has over 500 rooms, the Royal Plantation has 74, making the feel of the resort more private and relaxed. For example, the Royal Plantation has the only champagne and caviar bar on the island. Guests looking for a bit more lively atmosphere can enjoy all of the amenities of the Ochi resort, however, it’s not reciprocal. Finally, there are five restaurants and two bars.

6. Sandals Dunn’s River
The Coyaba Sky Rondoval Villas with rooftop sanctuary at Dunn’s River is Sandal’s latest take on ultra-luxurious accommodations.

Sandal’s newest resort, Dunn’s River opening May 2023, is ideal for anyone seeking out ultra-luxurious and unique suites. They’ve copied the Rondoval Suites design from Sandals South Coast and improved it by adding rooftop terraces (pictured above).

While the Beachfront Skypool Suites with their infinity pools look like something you’d find in Greece (pictured above). Accommodation options like these are impressive and only found at Sandals Dunn’s River. Finally, there are 12 restaurants and nine bars.

7. Sandals Montego Bay

Just about five minutes from the airport, guests can basically step from the airplane onto the resort. As Sandal’s first all-inclusive resort, Sandals Montego Bay is the apotheosis for a “one set price” vacation package. Furthermore, when it comes to all-inclusive resorts, Sandals Montego Bay is a completely luxurious resort that offers pretty much everything imaginable. Moreover, with its over-the-water chapel, this is probably the best Sandals resort for a destination wedding. Finally, there are 12 restaurants and six bars.
