What list of the world’s most scenic destinations would be complete without North America’s most iconic natural landmark? With an average depth of one mile, the Grand Canyon is a destination that has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Aside from the canyon itself, the national park offers plenty for visitors to do—hiking, horseback riding, rafting the Colorado River, camping, visiting Grand Canyon Village, the Skywalk, taking a trip on the railway, or even enjoying a helicopter tour!

When is the Best Time to Visit the Grand Canyon?

The park is understandably busy during the summer months, so visit between March through May and September through November if you want to avoid the crowds.

The Azores, Portugal

The Azores is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal (along with Madeira). It is an archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean about 850 miles west of continental Portugal. Its waters are home to amazing creatures like orcas, humpback and sperm whales. On land, the seafood cuisine is exceptional, spa experiences abound, and the local Fado music scene is bound to keep you entertained.

The best time to visit the Azores is from May to October to take advantage of the best weather.

Cape Winelands, South Africa

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

This site is two extremes in one place. Amazing cliff formations that separate the land from and sea. The vast view of the Atlantic Ocean takes your breath away and humbles you. It’s a beautiful combination of blue and green.

Towering at just over 700 feet tall, the stunning striated rocks that form the mighty Cliffs of Moher provide a magnificent view out over the waters of the Wild Atlantic Way. The closest town, Doolin, features several charming bed and breakfasts, hotels, cozy pubs, and restaurants. It makes the perfect spot to settle for your stay.

The best way to enjoy the sights and sounds of the area is to hike. There are many cliff walk routes available. When visibility is good, you may even be able to spot the Aran Islands in the distance from the lookout point known as O’Brien’s Tower.

When is the Best Time to Visit the Cliffs of Moher?

It is recommended to visit between April through June or September through October. You’ll be able to take advantage of mild weather without the throngs of tourists who come in the height of summer.

They include the marine iguana, Blue-Footed Booby, cormorants, flamingos, penguins, fur seals, sea lions, and of course, the famous giant tortoise. All these wonderful animals call this sanctuary in the vast Pacific home.

Nineteen islands make up the Galápagos Islands. The white sandy beaches and warm water during the summer also make this beauty spot ideal for activities like snorkeling and kayaking, which are great ways to meet some of the fascinating creatures which live here.

The best time to visit the Galápagos Islands is from December through June. This is the warmest time of the year. This period also offers the best visibility for snorkeling and diving.

Zanzibar / Unguja, Tanzania

Additionally. the area is also really popular for surfing.

If you prefer slightly cooler weather, consider visiting Zanzibar in the spring during June through October.
