Best Hostel in Puerto Natales, Chile – The Singing Lamb Hostel

We booked a private double bed after a poor experience at another local hostel <Yaganhouse> in Puerto Natales. <The Singing Lamb> was one of the best experiences we’ve had with a hostel on our backpacking trip through Patagonia. Although it was more on the pricey side at ~$80 per night for a private double, highlights included: a comfortable bed with crisp, clean sheets and comforters, a spacious room with built-ins for storage and breathing room, windows that opened to mountain views, and a shower that was incredibly clean. Clean fluffy towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were provided. Staff was kind, helpful, and the hostel itself sets up tours of the area and bus tickets.

There is a bar, internet station, daily room cleaning, self-laundry with a sink (outside clothesline, laundry soap AND a luxury in the backpacking world…fabric softener!). We felt that this hostel was worth the sludge to feel “normal” again. It was such a great stay we hated to leave.

The only negative is that the hostel’s kitchen is very, very small. So at meal times, especially dinner, there could be as many as 10+ people trying to compete to use kitchen supplies, the sink and the stove which only had 3 working burners. The hostel could also benefit from some new pans and cookware. Breakfast was bakery toast and eggs which was we felt was meager given the cost.  Overall, highly recommend!

Great amenities for a hostel and well worth the cost!
