Trust us, Plitvice (PLEET-veet-seh) Lakes National Park is one of Europe’s hidden gems. We visited during March when prices are 3x LESS (than during the peak season) and crowds are at an epic low. Our admission fee was only $8 per person. The price includes access to all of the trails, a boat ride on Lake Kozjak, and a panoramic train ride that picks you up at the finish line and takes you back to the starting point. After doing almost no research and just “showing up,” the beauty of the park blew us away. It was totally unexpected. Here’s a simple fact you may not know; Croatians love to walk. The park is laid out in a simple and easy to follow one-way direction. You begin on one end of the park and a train will take you back to the “starting” line upon completion. The amazing waterfalls and ever-changing landscape contributes to the fact that, without realizing it, you’ve covered approximately 5 miles of territory. The boardwalk elevated over the running waters, water grass, aquatic life, and waterfalls simply melts the stresses of daily life away. After leaving the area, you’re sure to hear the relaxing sound of running water humming through your body and mind for hours to come. This peace and serenity the park offers is one of the main reasons we rank this as a must see in Europe. If you don’t think you’ll get a chance to visit (in the near future), or just want to reward yourself with a quick 2 minutes of relaxation, check out the video below. Quick Note: No need to bring lunch necessarily. The café at the boat dock offers quite a large assortment of choices. Since we brought lunch we opted for the cappuccinos. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Recommended: "S3 E17: We're going to be MILLIONAIRES!
