Audrey & Harry
Back in 2004, I treated my wife Audrey to a trip to Grand Cayman upon her Masterβs degree achievement. Since then, weβve journeyed across seven continents, fueling our addiction to travel.
Our mantra? βGo Big or Stay Home.β While living frugally, we spared no expense on vacations. Now, after traveling around the world, weβre embracing a budget-savvy lifestyle and sharing the wisdom weβve gained along the way with others.
Check out this short video about us!
Meet Audrey, my partner in adventure and a speech pathologist by profession.
Her thirst for change propels us from one country to the next, while I handle finances and she manages operations. Together, weβre βThe Budget Savvy Travelers.β
Oh Wow, You Still Care? But Seriouslyβ¦
Weβre Audrey and Harry, born and raised in the Chicago burbs. We met when we were 18, married at 25, and have been working to fund our travel obsession for what seems like an eternity. Nothing seems to fulfill us more than packing up, exploring the world, and experiencing anything new.
After following numerous couples on social media who have quit their jobs, sold their crap, and embarked on a round-the-world adventure, we decided: βIf they could do it? Why canβt we?β Β We are very strong believers that life is too short not to live your dreams. Besides, who wants to wait until retirement to slow travel the world? Not us! So here we are planning our very own round-the-world adventure.
Working as a speech-language pathologist since 2004, Audrey has a passion for photography, trekking, the mountains, and checking off items on her lifeβs to-do lists. Thereβs a freedom and peace she feels when she is traveling and off the beaten path and she canβt wait to experience that on a more long-term basis. Her new job will entail maintaining the blog and our social media sites.
Harry worked hard to become a CPA and enjoys anything finance-related, especially personal finance (i.e., budgeting, investments. retirement, etc.). Outside of finance, Harry doesnβt find it hard to relax. He enjoys the beach life, especially snorkeling.
Although he may not want to admit it, heβs also a foodie and a wino. Some of his best days probably have been spent drinking a great glass of wine in a breathtaking far faraway place. His job will be anything related to our finances, including showing our followers and site visitors that if they have the passion and fearlessness, they too, can travel long-term.
Weβre cutting to the chase, Β bringing our experiences to you with a wee bit of an edge, and showcasing our sometimes quirky personalities.
Thanks for joining us on the ride of our lives. You may also follow along on our social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Hey guys- its your cousin Don. Love the pictures of Croatia. Irene and I want to visit there next year. Maybe go to Slovenian as well. Still hard to wrap my head around your adventures. Lucky you!!
Hi Don!
Great to hear from you! When you do visit, please contact us! We are unofficial official experts on Croatia. Itβs our absolute favorite country and we will have lived here for well over a year. Itβs clean, cheap, has beautiful scenery, safe, and has good people. Donβt tell anyone but itβs a million times better than Italy in our personal opinion (but keep the secret safe, okay?)
Irene said her family is Slovenian, right? A Croatia + Slovenia Tour would be phenomenal.
Who knows? Donβt tell our moms, but we still may be here when your tour time comes. If so, we promise to be your personal tour guides if you come to Split.
It would be great to finally get someone to come and visit us!

Take care! ????
